Pest Control Advisor Needed
Capay Farms, based in Hamilton City, California, is looking for a PCA to assist with the management of over 10,000 acres of almonds and walnuts. Requirements include;
PCA endorsements: Insects, Plant Disease, Weeds, and Vertebrates (Nematodes and Plant Growth Regulators would also be good)
Someone with a particularly strong background in Entomology (insects) over a Pathologist (disease) would complement the management team best
Sprayer calibration knowledge
Additionally, an understanding of any of the following would be taken into account;
Soil Fertility and Amendments,
Irrigation/Fertigation,
Insect Mating Disruption,
Pressure Bomb usage
Ability to work with a group, i.e. team oriented person
Pay commensurate with experience and abilities, benefits explained at interview.
Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Scout fields in Butte, Glenn, Tehama and Colusa counties for pest pressure. Develop and maintain insect trapping schemes for all ranches.
Write chemical recommendations and prepare use reports for all ranches.
Order chemicals and prepare ranch allocations.
Review chemical safety protocol prior to chemical applications, conduct tailgate trainings with employees and review/follow Respirator Protection Plan
Track nutrient levels from year to year.
Review chemical invoices with Front Office Admin to verify correct amount and price.
Speak with chemical reps and attend meetings about new chemical development and efficacy.
Sole responsibility for keeping MSDS and Chemical Labels current.
Fill out paperwork for the County Ag Commissioners in Butte, Glenn, Tehama and Colusa and other govt. agencies as required (e.g. NOI's; HazMat permits; Respirator Protection Plan; etc.)
Work on and review hazardous material communication plan, prepare for the Ag Commissioners bi-annual headquarters inspections.
Track and Manage up to date Inventory of Chemicals
Supervision and instruction of safe working practices and conditions including field sanitation.
Enforcement of all company policies and procedures.
Attend safety and field meetings.
